Martech Builder (Freelance)
About kaiko
Picture Laura, 58, with a cough that will not clear. It takes four specialists and a year to find her lung cancer, though the signs were in her file from the start, spread across scans, lab results and reports. No doctor had the whole picture, or the time to weigh it.
kaiko is named after a deep-sea vessel that went 10,911 metres down, to the bottom of the ocean, and came back with what was there. Our clinical AI does the same with a patient’s record and the medical evidence, so doctors have the whole picture when they decide. It is built on our own foundation models and used daily at leading European hospitals.
We are a well-funded team of more than a hundred people in Amsterdam and Zurich. Join us so the next patient like Laura is diagnosed months sooner, with a better chance of a long and healthy life.
About the role
As kaiko brings its clinical AI to clinicians, the decisions on where we invest depend on data we can trust. That data has to follow each user from a first visit to our website, through sign-up and first use, to the colleagues they bring in.
There is no marketing technology stack for this yet, so you design and build it from the ground up: tracking and consent, the connection between product and marketing data, event-triggered email next to our CRM, and the data layer the team reports from. Working closely with product, engineering, data and security, you keep clinical data out of every marketing tool by design. You document what you build and hand it over to the growth team in working order, ready for new European markets.
We’re looking for someone who has built a measurement and messaging stack from nothing for a product-led company, and who is as comfortable writing an event specification with engineers as setting up a CRM integration or modelling data in a warehouse.
This is a freelance engagement until mid-2027, starting as soon as possible.
Some areas of responsibility
Design and build our marketing measurement from the ground up: the tracking plan, consent and server-side tracking, attribution, and the definitions the team reports on.
Connect product and marketing data with product engineers: event specifications, one event pipeline, and one view of each user across website, product and CRM.
Set up event-triggered lifecycle email next to our CRM, with reliable deliverability and clear rules for which tool reaches whom.
Build the data layer and dashboards the growth team decides from, then document the stack and hand it over in working order.
About you
4 to 8 years in marketing operations, growth engineering, analytics engineering, or martech consulting, including building a stack from scratch for a self-serve or product-led company.
You have set up an event-triggered messaging tool such as Customer.io, Braze, or Iterable next to a CRM such as HubSpot, and connected both to a product.
You set up and model a data warehouse with SQL and a tool such as dbt.
Privacy by design: you build tracking under GDPR and ePrivacy and keep sensitive data out of marketing tools.
A hands-on builder who works as one team with product and engineering. You document your work so others can run it.
Nice to have:
Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or another regulated sector.
Experience measuring referral loops, or setting up tracking across countries and languages.
Working knowledge of Dutch.
