Platform Engineer – GitOps
About kaiko
Delivering high quality cancer care is complex; specialists form a view of each patient's condition by reasoning across different data - CT scans, genomics context, treatment history and clinical notes.
Current AI are powerful within domains but fall short when it comes to reasoning across data or domain areas. kaiko.w, our AI assistant for oncology, aims to equip every clinician with a full understanding of their patients, helping them to reason across data as they assess each case.
We’re building this in close collaboration with the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) and a growing network of hospitals and research centers. We’ve raised significant long-term funding and have nearly doubled our team over the past year. We’re now 80+ people representing 25 nationalities, based across our offices in Zurich and Amsterdam.
About the role
As our engineering organization grows, so does the complexity of delivering software reliably, securely, and at speed. Our internal platforms, tooling, and workflows need to evolve to support this scale, enabling engineers to ship confidently without being bogged down by infrastructure concerns.
This role is part of the DevEx team, focused on infrastructure delivery and GitOps practices. You’ll take ownership of the systems that define how environments are provisioned, how services are deployed, and how change flows through our stack. Your work will directly reduce friction for product and research teams, improve deployment safety, and ensure that our delivery pipelines remain resilient and scalable.
You’ll work with state-of-the-art tooling, modern cloud-native architectures, and a team that values high autonomy and deep technical ownership. This is a chance to help shape the future of platform engineering in a fast-moving company, solving problems that don’t yet have off-the-shelf answers.
You will be based in either The Netherlands or Switzerland, with the expectation of spending at least 50% of your time at the office.
Some areas of responsibility:
- Evolve our GitOps workflows for infrastructure provisioning, environment promotion, and application deployment across staging and production.
- Design and maintain internal platforms that empower engineers to ship faster with minimal friction.
- Collaborate across teams to define infrastructure best practices, evangelize usage, and support adoption of platform tooling.
- Continuously improve platform reliability and security, embedding scalable patterns into shared infrastructure components and workflows.
About you
- Deep understanding of software delivery workflows: deployment, release promotion, rollout and rollback strategies
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi, AWS CDK)
- Experience managing Kubernetes-based deployments or containerized systems (e.g. Kustomize, Helm, ArgoCD, Flux)
- Strong experience with CI/CD systems such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or equivalent
- Knowledge of cloud environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure)
Nice to have:
- Configuration Management Tools: Knowledge of Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or related tools.
- Monitoring and Alerting Tools: Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack to monitor system health.
- Security Best Practices in DevOps: Understanding security measures within the DevOps lifecycle.
We are excited to gather a broad range of perspectives in our team, as we believe it will help us build better products to support a broader set of people. If you’re excited about us but don’t fit every single qualification, we still encourage you to apply: we’ve had incredible team members join us who didn’t check every box!
